Purchase Process – Brake Rotors

• 4. Production & Balancing: After order and payment, we ensure rotors are machined, balanced, and coated correctly per your specs.

Brake Rotor Installation & Maintenance Guidelines

1. Initial Installation

1. Old Brake Pads with New Rotors: If installing new brake rotors with used brake pads, ensure the pads' friction surfaces are evenly sanded smooth before installation.
2. Rotor Surface Cleaning: Thoroughly clean new rotor surfaces before installation to avoid brake slippage or unnecessarily extending the bedding-in period.
3. Hub and Rotor Contact Surfaces: Clean the rotor’s center bore and the hub contact surface using a specialized brake cleaner, then lightly sand it to a smooth finish. This prevents uneven mounting caused by rust, which could lead to rotor vibration and wobble.
4. Rotor Bedding-in Period: After installing new brake rotors, a proper bedding-in process is required. Depending on your brake pads and driving conditions, this period typically ranges between 500–1,000 km. During this time, avoid harsh braking, aggressive steering maneuvers, and prolonged braking that significantly raises brake temperature (a primary cause of rotor warping).
5. Consequences of Skipping Bedding-in: Immediate high-speed, aggressive braking without proper bedding-in can generate excessive smoke and deep scoring, significantly increasing the risk of rotor distortion or warping.

2. During Regular Use

1. Heat Management: Brake rotors are made from various alloy metals. Sudden cooling, such as exposure to water when hot, alters their metallurgical properties, potentially leading to cracking or warping and subsequent vibrations.
2. Handling Minor Vibrations: If minor vibrations occur due to improper operation, gently apply the brakes consistently to gradually smooth the rotor surface. This will typically improve performance over time.
3. Rust and Foreign Objects: Rust spots may form after driving on muddy roads or prolonged vehicle storage. Normal braking usage typically removes superficial rust. However, if deep grooves are caused by foreign objects lodged in the braking system, remove the foreign objects immediately.

3. Brake Rotor Replacement

Brake rotor dimensions—thickness, angle, and groove depth—are precisely engineered based on extensive performance data. When the wear indicators (such as the rotor grooves or marks) become unclear or completely worn away, it is strongly recommended to replace the brake rotors to maintain optimal braking performance and safety.
